Elgator History
The ELGATOR PUTTING MAT concept was born in 2005 when Gary Schoeman was coaching golf full-time at the Kroonstad Country Club, South Africa . One day on the putting green, Schoeman came to the conclusion that the everyday golfer needs a tool to assist with his or her basic skill development. While obtaining a degree in Marketing from the University of Hertfordshire (UK) and spending his summers coaching golf in the United States, Schoeman had the opportunity to extensively research his concept and to develop a working model. Within a year, the "Aimshaper" (now the Elgator Putting Mat) won its first award when Schoeman was awarded as runner-up in the Business Ideas Challenge of the University of Hertfordshire 2007 and in 2008 won the award for most innovative idea.
